An appeal to our community:

We are grateful for the generosity of the community that has sustained us for decades.  As we approach our 75th Anniversary in 2027, we wanted to take this opportunity to further explain why your donations are so vital for us to continue to provide emergency services.

While we receive a stipend from the Towns we cover, this DOES NOT cover our annual operating budget.  In addition, we cover ALL Capital Expenditures from YOUR DONATIONS.

We maintain our building and purchase ALL vehicles and equipment on our own.  To put that in perspective, let’s explain where your money goes:

Over the course of the last year we have begun to undertake a significant renovation of our Squad building. These improvements will make the building, not only safer, but more welcoming to our members AND the community.  These renovations will amount to approximately $150,000.

We have placed a deposit for our next ambulance.  Instead of outright purchasing a new ambulance ($350,000) we are going to remount and refurbish our oldest ambulance’s box onto a new truck.  This will essentially be a like-new ambulance.  The cost is $170,000.

We purchased 2 new ATVs for $9,000 each.  These replaced our 12-year-old ATVs that we utilize for beach response while also being used by our Lifeguard EMTs, to enhance the response capabilities of the Barnegat Light Beach Patrol.

Looking ahead, we will need to replace our ambulance stretcher systems in the coming years.  We have state-of-the-art power lift and load stretchers that can hold up to 700 lbs and are literally a lifesaver to our responders.  These cost $90,000 each and we have 3 of them.  Our existing systems are 12 years old and are approaching the end of their useful life.

We are looking to replace our building generator as ours is over 30 years old.  This is vitally important so our building can be fully functional during power outages AND can be used as an Emergency Shelter for our community.

This is just a small glimpse into the financial burden of operating your 24/7/365, free of charge volunteer emergency service.  In addition to this are the thousands of hours of training, continuing education, and emergency response that our dedicated members provide for you.

We want you to know that we are a 501c3 organization.  We welcome donations from Individuals, Private Foundations, Donor Advised Funds, Corporate Matching Gifts, and Corporate Charitable Funds.  We also accept gifts of stock.  Please reach out if you need additional information about our tax status, stock gifting, or including us in your Estate Planning. We appreciate your ongoing support, thank you!
